Office Connection requires a Telecom/VoIP/Structured Cabling Technician for the Peterborough area to service a complete line of digital office solutions.
This full-time position offers competitive compensation, group medical/dental plan and mileage.
Job Description
Perform installation, programming, configuration, maintenance and support of various types of telecommunications equipment. Perform installation and maintenance of cabling infrastructure and devices for data and audio. Daily travel in an automobile between customer locations is usually required.
Responsibilities
- Pre-wiring, installation, termination, labeling, testing, and reporting
- Install telephone systems, endpoints, and peripherals
- Train end-users on telephone hardware
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to determine the cause and required repairs
- Work with the sales team to maximize equipment leads and upgrade opportunities
- Document and complete all work orders in a timely manner
Qualifications/Requirements
- Own insured vehicle with a valid Ontario driver’s license (mileage reimbursed)
- Experience pulling, terminating and testing network cabling
- Comfortable working at heights
- Must be able to lift upwards of 50lbs
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, stooping, squatting and kneeling
- Regular use of tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches and some electronic testing equipment
- Complete technical training on new equipment as assigned
- Willingness to learn additional roles (e.g. Printer/MFP/Copier Technician/Mailing Equipment)
Desired Skills/Experience
- Basic knowledge of PBX (phone systems) with a telecommunications background
- Experience with Panasonic, Grandstream preferred
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team and take initiative to improve the customer experience
